Massachusetts Women’s Track and Field Starts Outdoor Season with Dominant Win at Flagship Spring Opener

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team had an exceptional weekend, highlighted by 25 total medals – including 13 first-place finishes – en route to a 144.25 point victory at the Flagship Spring Opener meet in Amherst, Mass.

Highlights from Competition:
- Courtney Rowland claimed gold in the women's high jump, clearing 5'6.25". Shakira Cadet also placed in the top-six, placing T-6th leaping over 5'0.25".
- Five Minutewomen placed within the top-eight of the women's long jump, as Bridget Lee (1st), Shakira Cadet (2nd) and Grace Hanafin (3rd) swept the podium with leaps of 18'3", 18'2.5" and 17'9.75", respectively. Ruth Michel (7th) and Jordan Lafave (8th) placed back-to-back, jumping 16'11.25" and 16'10.75, respectively.
- Gabrielle Bilong secured gold in the women's triple jump with a distance of 36'11.25". Ruth Michel earned bronze, hop-skip-jumping 35'9.5". Bridget Lee (7th) and Ashley Camilo (8th) rounded out the top-eight with jumps of 33'2.5" and 32'11.75", respectively.
- Eve Segal (6th) and Tess Rancourt (7th) placed back-to-back in the women's shot put with tosses of 40'00" and 38'6.25", respectively.
- Mattie Bishop placed eighth in the women's discus with a throw of 111'00".
- Aaliyah Alleyne won gold in the women's javelin with a toss of 138'6". Elizabeth Hopkins rounded out the top-five with a throw of 124'6", and Evalysse Pierce placed eighth with a distance of 115'2".
- Ainsley Wiesner claimed gold in the women's hammer with a throw of 167'9". Jaliyah Burns placed fourth with a toss of 150'11".
- Ali Murphy, Jana DeRaedt, Katelyn Gorgenyi and Dani Allen combined to run 48.70 in the women's 4x100 meter relay, claiming gold. Alysia Spencer, Victoria Hernandez, Jennifer Williams and Maria Wood claimed silver with a time of 49.09.
- Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio claimed silver in the women's 1500 meter run with a time of 4:38.34. Klara Hansen rounded out the top-five with a time of 4:39.90, and Salma Boukhtam placed tenth crossing the finish line in 4:45.23.
- Ella Bosselman secured gold in the women's 3K steeplechase with a time of 10:58.36.
- Caroline Mullady (1st), Ali Murphy (2nd) and Leila Metres (3rd) swept the podium in the women's 400m dash, finishing in 57.50, 58.34 and 59.43, respectively. Naomi D'Souza placed ninth with a time of 1:02.12.
- Jana DeRaedt claimed silver in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.37. Alysia Spencer secured bronze finishing in 12.53, with Jordan Lafave placing eighth running in 12.72.
- Five Minutewomen placed in the top-eight of the women's 100m hurdles, as Jennifer Williams (2nd) and Tesaira Williams (3rd) secured medals running in 14.61 and 14.81, respectively. Katelyn Gorgenyi (4th), Dani Allen (6th) and Lillian Kirry (8th) crossed the finish line in 14.86, 15.29 and 15.46, respectively.
- Simone Harrison claimed gold in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:17.05. Maia Zatorska rounded out the top-five crossing in 2:20.42, with Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio finishing shortly behind in 2:20.55.
- Alexandria Scott secured gold in the women's 400m hurdles, running in 1:03.34.
- Sadai Headley-Mawasi claimed gold in the women's 200m dash, cruising to a 24.97. Jana DeRaedt placed fourth with a time of 25.64, and Alysia Spencer placed seventh running in 25.92. Leila Metres rounded out the top-10 with a time of 26.52.
- Rylee Davis won gold in the women's 5K, finishing with a time of 17:34.49.
- Ali Murphy, Naomi D'Souza, Leila Metres and Caroline Mullady earned gold in the women's 4x400m relay, combining to run a 4:08.93. Lillian Kirry, Tesaira Williams, Alexandria Scott and Sadai Headley-Mawasi claimed silver with a time of 4:17.32.
