Jakobie Keeney-James Signs With The Detroit Lions

Keeney-James joins the Lions as an undrafted free agent
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts wide receiver Jakobie Keeney-James has joined the Detroit Lions, signing as an undrafted free agent.
In the 2024 season as a graduate student, Keeney-James played in all 12 games for UMass and emerged as a key threat for the offense. He led the team in multiple receiving categories, including total yards (839), receptions (50) and touchdowns (6). Averaging nearly 17 yards per catch and close to 70 yards per game, he delivered standout performances, most notably a 150-yard game at Miami (OH) and a 75-yard touchdown reception at Georgia.
Prior to his time at UMass, Keeney-James spent five seasons at Eastern Washington, appearing in 37 games and tallying 825 receiving yards on 61 catches with four touchdowns. In 2021 as a redshirt sophomore, he recorded 246 yards and three touchdowns. He also earned academic recognition in the Big Sky Conference.
A former standout at Redlands High School, Keeney-James was an All-League football honoree and a four-year varsity track athlete.
