Women’s Cross Country Tops Field At Ted Owen Invitational

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – University of Massachusetts women's cross country had six of the top-nine finishers to claim first at the Ted Owen Invitational with a score of 30 in a field of 10 teams. All five Minutewomen scorers placed in order fourth through eighth in the 5K race.

UMass will next travel to the Paul Short Run at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in two weeks on Saturday, Oct. 5. Race time is set for 11:45 a.m.
THE UMASS TOP-FIVE
- Senior Eugenia Fairhurst led the pack for UMass with a time of 17:41.
- Junior Sydney Adams followed in fifth (17:56).
- Junior Annika Zuschlag posted a time of 17:59 for sixth.
- Sophomore Rylee Shunney claimed seventh overall and fourth on the team in 18 minutes, 7 seconds.
- Freshman Leann Lombardi made her debut in the UMass top-five in eighth overall in 18:07.
