June 05, 2024 | Hockey

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts hockey has added 6-0, 174-pound left-shot defenseman Francesco Dell'Elce to its roster for the 2024-25 season, head coach Greg Carvel announced. A native of King City, Ontario, Dell'Elce joins goaltender James Norton and defenseman Finn Loftus as the third member UMass' Class of 2028.

"Francesco possesses a high hockey IQ and is an offensively gifted defenseman," said Carvel. "We are excited to work with Francesco to grow his game without the puck and watch him develop into another UMass defenseman who moves on to play pro hockey."

Eligible for the 2024 NHL Draft, Dell'Elce spent the 2023-24 season with the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), registering 38 points on nine goals and 29 assists over 54 regular season games and put up eight points (2g, 6a) over 22 postseason contests. He was named a BCHL Second Team All-Star and to the BCHL All-Rookie Team.

Prior to joining the Vees, Dell'Elce appeared in 120 games over two seasons with St. Andrew's College and logged 123 points (40g, 83a).
