Massachusetts Tennis Drops 4-1 Decision At Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis fell 4-1 to Harvard on Saturday afternoon.

The Crimson started the match off seizing the doubles point with victories on courts No. 1 and No. 2. The duo of Natalie Block and Kavya Karra nabbed a 6-3 decision atop Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye at No. 2 doubles, while Harvard's Stephanie Yakoff and Holly Fischer grabbed a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles over Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul. The match on court No. 3 went unfinished with the Crimson clinching the doubles point.

Havard's momentum persisted into singles play. Kate Kim started things off at No. 4 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 over Mariana Campino. Soon after, the Crimson's Sany Gawande bested Amelia Tye 6-4, 6-1 on court No. 5. The lone UMass victory came from Ella Faessler at No. 3 singles, overpowering Harvard's Charlotte Owensby 6-4, 6-2. The Crimson sealed their victory on court No. 1, with Holly Fischer bettering Danielle Hack 7-6, (2) 6-2.

Massachusetts travels to Storrs, Connecticut, on Wednesday, April 3, for a 2:30 p.m. match against UConn.
