Minutewomen Close Out Weekend At Tufts Cupid Challenge And Scarlet And White Meet

AMHERST, Mass.- The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team had seven athletes compete on Saturday. Katelyn Gorgenyi, Madelyn Krohto, and Jennifer Williams finished the pentathlon at Tufts Cupid Challenge while Gabriella Pagnini, Tiara Deveaux, Alex Costantino, and Elise O'Leary competed at the Scarlet and White Meet.

In the pentathlon shot put, two Minutewomen cracked the top five as Gorgenyi came in second with a throw of 35' 3.75" and Krohto placed fourth with a distance of 31' 8.75". Williams finished in 10th to round out the trio.

Krohto and Williams finished second and third in the long jump with marks of 16' 9.25" and 16' 6" respectively. Gorgenyi also finished top five, jumping 15' 11.5" to take fifth.

In the 800m Madelyn Krohto came in seventh (2:52.92), Gorgenyi came in ninth (2:58.48), and Williams came in 12th (3:05.49).

Krohto placed second overall (3056) in the pentathlon while Gorgenyi came in third (2987) and Williams came in fifth (2881).

At the Scarlet and White Meet, Gabriella Pagnini placed 16th with a throw of 40' 3.5" in the shot put.

Tiara Deveaux took sixth in the long jump with a mark of 17' 11.5".

In the 800m Alex Costantino ran a 2:13.22 to take 24th while Elise O'Leary came in 40th with a time of 2:18.67.
The Minutewomen will be back in action next weekend as they compete in the BU Valentine Invitation on Friday, February 9th and the URI Pre-Conference Speed and Power Meet on Saturday, February 10th.
