Massachusetts Men's Track & Field Finish Regular Season

AMHERST, Mass.- The University of Massachusetts men's track & field team split between a pair of meets on Saturday to close out the regular season. A handful went to the BU Valentine Invitational, where Joachim Ennoo had a pair of top five finishes in the long and triple jump. The rest of the team headed to Rhode Island for the URI Coaches Invitational, highlighted by Joseph Duggan's second place finish in the shot put.
Highlights from competition:
BU Valentine Invitational
- Joachim Ennoo placed third in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump with marks of 46' 5.5" and 22' 3" respectively.
- Robert Carew had a personal best 3000m with a time of 8:19.32 to place tenth.
URI Coaches Invitational
- Joseph Duggan claimed second in the shot put with a throw of 52' 7".
- Freshman Elijah Wolinski came in fifth in the long jump with a mark of 20' 11.5", just half an inch short of his personal best.
- Emmanuel Simon cracked the top eight in the triple jump with a personal best distance of 43' 0.5"
- John Ferrarelli came in seventh in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.65.
- Michael Rodia ran a 7.07 60m dash to place seventh.
- In the 1000m, the Minutemen got a pair of runners in the top three as Owen Mullahy ran a 2:30.62 and Nicholas Calitri ran a 2:30.76 to take second and third respectively.
- Five Minutemen finished in the top eight with Liam Ouellette coming in second (8:26.94), Matthew George in third (8:33.33), and Surafel Mengist in fifth (8:35.54).
The Minutemen now look ahead to the Atlantic 10 Championship in two weeks when they go down to Virginia Beach on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24.
