Women’s Cross Country Claims Runner-Up Showing At Atlantic 10 Championships

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – University of Massachusetts women's cross country claimed the runner-up spot at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday morning at Pole Green Park with a score of 113. The Minutewomen trailed only team champion Loyola Chicago (36 points) in the 15 team field, the best finish for UMass as a squad since 2000.
All five UMass scorers finished inside the top-40 in the 137-competitor field with Sydney Adams leading the way with a top-10 finish (ninth, 20:57.3). Eugenia Fairhurst followed in 12th, completing the 6K in 21 minutes, 2.5 seconds as both runners earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference recognition.
Klara Hansen was 24th as the Minutewomen's No. 3 runner, completing the course in 21 minutes, 25.9 seconds. Behind her, Lara Mannes Diaz De Cerio crossed in 30th, with a time of 21:37.7.
Annika Zuschlag completed the UMass scoring, taking 39th overall in 21 minutes, 41.3 seconds.
The Minutewomen will be back in action on Friday, November 15, when the squad travels to Hopkinton, New Hampshire for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships.
