STORRS, CT. - The Minutewomen will take on UConn (17-3, 6-1 Big East) at 12:00 p.m. in the NCAA First Round at Nancy Stevens Field. The matchup marks the first NCAA appearance for Massachusetts since 2016 and 27th overall. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and can be followed live on umassathletics.com or UMassFH on Twitter.

- Friday's NCAA First Round match-up marks the 59th meeting between UMass and UConn. The Minutewomen hold a 15-40-3 record all-time in the series.
- The two opponents faced each other earlier this season with UConn claiming a 1-0 victory at George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs, CT.
- Friday's matchup marks the seventh NCAA Tournament game between the two programs, with four coming in the opening round.
NCAA Tournament REcord
- The Massachusetts field hockey program (15-5, 7-0 A-10) earned its 27th overall NCAA Tournament bid on selection Sunday, marking their first appearance since 2016.
- Massachusetts owns an overall record of 21-27 (.438) in the NCAA Tournament and a 7-16 (.304) mark in the first round.
- The Minutewomen advanced to the first ever NCAA Field Hockey Championship Final in 1981, falling 4-1 to UConn in the inaugural final. The matchup is the lone NCAA Championship game appearance for Massachusetts.
- Massachusetts holds a 1-5 record all-time against UConn in NCAA Tournament competition, last facing the Huskies on Nov. 10, 2007 in the opening round.
- Massachusetts has advanced to four NCAA Semifinals (1981, '83, '87, '92) and has made six elite eight appearances including back-to-back seasons on two separate occasions.
- Massachusetts joins Saint Joseph's as the only two Atlantic 10 schools to receive NCAA Tournament bids this season. .
A-10 Regular Season Champs
- With its 3-0 victory over Richmond, Massachusetts secured its first Atlantic 10 regular season championship since 2014 and the no. 1 overall seed in the A-10 Championship Tournament.
- The championship marks the first conference championship for Head Coach Barb Weinberg.
- The Minutewomen finished the regular season undefeated in conference play, recording their seventh shutout of the season, and third against an A-10 opponent.
On the Sideline
- Head Coach Barb Weinberg enters her eighth season at the helm of the Minutewomen, holding a career record of 94-56 (.628). UMass has never finished outside of the top-4 in the A-10 standings during Weinberg's tenure.
- Massachusetts assistants Simon van de Loo and Holly Turbill enter their second season in Amherst, looking to build on a successful first season at The Chuk.
- Van de Loo brings 17 years of coaching experience to the Minutewomen, spending the 2022 season as an assistant coach for the Den Bosch men's field hockey team in The Netherlands
- Turbill crosses the pond after serving as both U-16 Boys and U-18 Girls Talent Academy Head Coach at the Surbiton Hockey Club in Long Ditton, Surrey, England.
