Massachusetts Tennis Caps Off Weekend at The Atlantic 10 Fall Individual Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – University of Massachusetts tennis competed in the Atlantic 10 Fall Individual Championship this weekend. In the singles competition, Mariana Campino and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul represented the team; while the duo of Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye competed in doubles play.

Play began on Friday, with Jonglertrakul capturing the lone win for UMass.. The Thailand-native defeated University of Rhode Island's Sophie Hermann 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the Quarterfinals. No. 2 seed Campino fell to the Rams' Katharina Spieth 4-6, 4-6 in the Round of 16, while doubles team Faessler and Tye lost a tightly contested 7(2), 8(7) match against Duquesne University's Kaya Rand and former Minutewomen, Alexandra O'Brien.

On Saturday, Jonglertrakul lost a three-set thriller to Davidson College's Kavya Patel, 6-3, 1-6, 1-6. Soon after consolation matches began, with both Fassler/Tye and Campino capturing victories in the backdraw. Faessler and Tye defeated Rhode Island's Nikki Fernando and Katharina Spieth 8-6, while Campino bested Saint Bonaventure University's Isabella Venter 3-6, 6-2, (10-8).

Massachusetts has a two-week break before the final competition of their fall slate, the Big Green Invite beginning Friday, November 8th to Sunday, November 10th.
