Massachusetts Tennis Finishes Fall Season At Big Green Invite

The Minutewomen garnered victories over Yale and Dartmouth across the weekend
HANOVER, N.H. – The Massachusetts tennis team concluded their fall season at the Big Green Invite this weekend. Across the three days of competition, UMass notably defeated Yale and the host team Dartmouth in 3-2 decisions, respectively.
Across the weekend, Massachusetts teamed up with Wisconsin to account for a full team.
The Minutewomen started off play on Friday against Yale. The duo of Mariana Campino and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul started off doubles play, besting the Bulldogs' Ann Wright Guerry and Angela Huang 6-4. Soon after, Amelia Tye and Cosima Trinity Calinescu clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Rebecca Lynn and Sophia Zaslow of Yale.
At singles play, Jonglertrakul defeated Zaslow 7-5, 6-2 on court No. 5 – before at No. 5 singles, Tye bettered Jackeline Lopez 6-0, 6-1. Yale garnered singles wins on courts No. 4 and No. 7, but UMass' doubles victories proved monumental, determining the final decision of 3-2.
On Saturday, UMass completed another 3-2 victory– this time over the host, Dartmouth. Through teaming up with Wisconsin, the Minutewomen clinched the doubles point after their victory at No. 2 doubles. The duo of Jonglertrakul and Campino won over Big Green's Sam Grosjean and Lauren Han 7-5.
Massachusetts continued their strong play in singles. First Tye defeated Dartmouth's Valentina Cruz 6-4, 6-0 on court No. 5, before Calinescu won a three-set thriller at No. 6 singles over Elise Wong of the Big Green 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 to finalize the 3-2 match score.
Against Rutgers on Sunday, the Minutewomen took the doubles point with wins on courts No. 2 and No. 3. Jonglertrakul and Campino closed out their dominant doubles play across the fall season, defeating the Scarlet Knight's Minchae Kim and Mai Nguyen 7-6 (2). The pair went undefeated across the weekend. Tye and Calinescu clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Naomi Karki and Cindy Zhau of Rutgers.
At No. 2 singles, Jonglertrakul picked up a 7-5, 6-1 match over the Scarlet Knight's Nguyen before Tye bested Jackeline Lopez of Rutgers 6-0, 6-1 on court No. 7. However, Rutgers collected wins at No. 1, 3, 4, and 8 singles– to edge out UMass by a 4-3 decision.
