Massachusetts Football Radio Broadcasts To Air On Saga Communications

WHMP 101.5 FM will serve as the flagship station
AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts has reached an agreement with Saga Communications of New England and WHMP 101.5 FM will serve as the flagship terrestrial station for all football and hockey games.
"We're excited to extend our relationship with Saga Communications, strengthening our commitment to our fans and providing a consistent destination to listen to all our football games," Deputy Athletics Director for External Operations Jeff Smith said.
"WHMP, the Northampton Radio Group and Saga Communications prides itself on being locally committed to our community. UMass Athletics is a prominent part of that community. We're pleased to provide UMass Football and Hockey with an outlet for all the Minutemen fans!" said David Oldread, Vice President and General Manager of WHMP and the Northampton Radio Group. Â
WHMP, a staple in the Pioneer Valley, has served as the flagship radio partner of UMass Hockey since 2013. Hampshire and Franklin County's heritage news/talk radio station, WHMP, broadcasts on three frequencies -- 101.5 FM and 1400 AM.
Broadcasts will start 30 minutes before each game and fans can listen on WHMP 101.5 FM & 1400 AM as well as WCRN 830 AM (Worcester) or via the WHMP website or the Varsity Sports App.
The 140th season of Massachusetts football kicks off against New Mexico State at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 26 in Las Cruces, New Mexico at Aggie Memorial Stadium with Jay Burnham handling radio play-by-play duties and he will be joined by Pete Brock (analyst) and Laura Stickells (sideline). The game will also be broadcast on ESPN.
