Hughes Named To United Soccer Coaches Players To Watch List

Alec Hughes was named to the list after earning the Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year Honor a season ago.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's soccer senior forward Alec Hughes was named a United Soccer Coaches Forward to Watch as announced by the coaches organization on Tuesday afternoon. Hughes (Glastonbury, Conn.) was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 after leading the league in goals with 10 and points with 22.

In winning the league's offensive player award, Hughes became the first Minuteman to win the award since 2002 while becoming the first in program history to earn the A-10 Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year honors in a career. Hughes ranked inside the top-20 nationally in the regular season in both goals and points while recording the first UMass hat trick since 2015. The senior also earned a first-team all-conference nod and was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second-Team.

The Minutemen open the 2023 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 5 p.m. on Rudd Field against Northeastern.
