Kante Joins Massachusetts Men’s Basketball

Isaac Kante joins the Minutemen after averaging 12.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last season at LIU.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's basketball head coach Frank Martin announced the addition of Isaac Kante to the roster for the 2022-23 season on Friday afternoon. Kante joins the Minutemen after spending last year at LIU, where he started all 30 games and averaged 12.0 points per game to go along with 7.5 rebounds.
The Brooklyn, N.Y. native recorded six double-doubles a season ago while shooting nearly 54-percent from the field. Kante began his collegiate career at Georgia during the 2017-18 season before spending the next two years at Hofstra, where he averaged a double-double with nearly 13 points per game with 10 rebounds to earn NABC Second-Team All-District and CAA Second-Team All-Conference honors. He also earned third-team all-conference honors at Hofstra as a sophomore and led the CAA in field goal percentage.
Kante finished his prep career with a year at Putnam Science Academy and helped the team to a National Prep Championship Tournament semifinals appearance following his final year at Paul Robeson, where he averaged 15.5 points and 12.6 rebounds per game as a senior.
