O'Hara Joins Massachusetts Hockey Incoming Class

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has added Cole O'Hara, a 6-0, 190-pound right-shot forward to its incoming freshman class for 2022-23, head coach Greg Carvel announced on Friday. O'Hara, a native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, joins forwards Tyson Dyck, Michael Cameron and Kenny Connors and defensemen Mikey Adamson, Noah Ellis and Owen Murray as the seventh member of the Minutemen's Class of 2026. He was selected in the fourth round, 114th overall, by the Nashville Predators in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

"Cole comes to UMass after two seasons with the Tri-City Storm of the USHL," said Carvel. "This past season he proved himself to be one of the top scoring wingers in that league. Cole has size and can skate, but his best asset is his offensive sense. He can make plays and find the back of the net. We expect Cole to make an immediate impact on our team and has the potential to play at the next level. Cole is also an exceptional student. Another great addition to our program."

In his two seasons with Tri-City, O'Hara totaled 110 career points over 115 games on 39 goals and 71 assists and was +40.

Prior to playing in the USHL he played two seasons (2018-20) in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) with the North York Rangers. O'Hara earned an OHA Top Prospect Award in 2019-20 and OJHL First Team All-Prospect recognition after putting up 24 goals and 48 assists for 72 points that season. In his first year with North York, O'Hara had 53 points (14g, 39a) in 69 games and was named OJHL Second Team All-Prospect.
