Massachusetts Men's Lacrosse Earns Host Of Academic Honors

Liljeberg named a Division I Scholar All-American, UMass earned Division I Team All-Academic and 11 receive NEILA Division I All-Academic Team recognition.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse collected a host of academic accolades this week as Logan Liljeberg was named a Division I Scholar All-American and the Gorillas earned Division I Team All-Academic from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA). UMass also landed 11 individuals on the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division I All-Academic Team.
To receive NEILA All-Academic recognition nominees must have senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale and be an impact player for their team. Representing UMass on the NEILA All-Academic Team are attack James Caddigan (Master's Business Analytics), attack Chris Connolly (Master's Business Analytics), midfielder Kevin Cutinella (Master's Business Analytics), defenseman Sam Eisenstadt (Finance), goalkeeper Dom Elmo (Finance), midfielder Matthew Hill (Computer Science), attack Liljeberg (Master's Business Analytics), midfielder Jack Siebert (Master's Business Analytics), midfielder/attack Kevin Tobin (Economics), defenseman Quinn Towne (Public Health) and long stick midfielder Matt Weigand (Operations Information Management). Massachusetts trailed only Brown in total honorees among New England Division I teams.
Liljeberg joined the Gorillas this season as a graduate transfer from Sacred Heart and finished second on the team in scoring with 44 points in 14 games. He ranked third in goals with 23 and dished 21 assists, tying for the team lead. The Wrentham, Massachusetts native totaled 26 groundballs and seven caused turnovers and had six hat tricks on the year. Liljeberg ended the season with multi-goal games in each of the final four contests.
