The Quincy, Mass. native comes to Amherst after helping Sioux City to a Clark Cup this past season in the USHL.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey has announced the addition of 5-9, 170-pound left shot defenseman Mikey Adamson to its incoming freshman class for 2022-23. Adamson, a native of Quincy, Massachusetts, joins the Minutemen following two seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL) where he won a Clark Cup championship with the Sioux City Musketeers in 2021-22.

"Mikey is a mobile, puck moving defenseman with an offensive flair to his game," said UMass head coach Greg Carvel. "He plays the game with tempo and plays with an edge. He comes to UMass after two solid seasons with Sioux City in the USHL, serving as a captain this past season on the team that won the league championship. Mikey is a Massachusetts kid and we are excited to start bringing more in-state players to our program."

Over two seasons with Sioux City, Adamson appeared in 74 games and logged 18 points on one goal and 17 assists and was +8. He put up 13 points (1g, 12a) while wearing an "A" for the Musketeers this season.

Prior to moving to the USHL, Adamson played two seasons (2018-20) with Dexter Southfield School and logged 30 points in 30 games (5g, 25a), serving as the squad's captain. He also played at Boston College High School (2016-18) and with the NV River Rats AAA National program.
