Watts Signs with Pittsburgh Steelers

AMHERST, Mass.— Former Minuteman Bryce Watts has officially signed a contract to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Toms River, NJ native joined the Massachusetts' defensive back room in 2021.
 
While at UMass, Watts had a career year in 2021. Watts added an interception and 4 passes defended, and an impressive 43 total tackles.
 
Watts spent his first two collegiate seasons at Virginia Tech. In 2018, he appeared in 12 games at defensive back and on special teams. That season he posted 24 tackles, an interception and six pass break-ups.  Watts tallied six stops in his first career start against Florida State, and added six tackles and two pass break-ups at Old Dominion. He also notched two tackles, his first career interception and a pass break-up against Marshall.
 
In 2017 as a true freshman, Watts appeared in all 13 games at defensive back and on special teams.
 
Watts will be one of five current active former Minutemen in the NFL.
