Men's Cross Country Takes Third At CCSU Mini Meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – University of Massachusetts men's cross country finished third out of 12 schools in the Men's 5K Varsity race at the CCSU Mini Meet on Friday afternoon with a score of 78, trailing only Celeron Track Club (26) and Central Connecticut (77). The Minutemen also had two individuals run in the Men's 5K Sub Varsity race, while freshman Erin Shipos finished 11^th in the Women's 3K Sub Varsity race as the only Minutewoman racing on the day, posting a time of 11 minutes, 17.5 second in the field of 62 competitors.

THE UMASS TOP-FIVE

Freshman Adam Thibodeau was the top finisher for the Minutemen in 14^th overall in the field of 96 runners with a time of 15:14.9.
Matthew George followed in 17^th as UMass' No. 2, completing the 5K in 15:18.4.
Zachary Conant was next to cross for the Minutemen in 25^th overall (15:27.5).
Caleb Zylka was 37^th overall and fourth for the Minutemen in 15:36.6.
Riley Cole closed out the top-five in 45^th with a time of 15:45.2.

ALSO IN ACTION FOR UMASS

Owen Mullahy (50^th, 15:57.4) and Bobby Carew (52^nd, 16:01.3) also ran the Men's Varsity 5K for the Minutemen.
Xavier Metivier was eighth in the Men's 5K Sub Varsity race (15:50.1) and Drew Pesko placed 23^rd (16:08.9).

Massachusetts cross country will head to Mechanicsville, Virginia to race in the Atlantic 10 Championships at Pole Green Park on Saturday, October 29.
