Massachusetts Cross Country Duo Captures A-10 Weekly Honors

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts cross country runners Sarah Conant and Zach Lefever have been tabbed the Atlantic 10 Performers of the Week following their top-10 finishes at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational last Saturday.

On the men's side, Lefever was the individual winner in a field of 53 runners at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational with a time of 19:08 in the 6K race. His performance helped UMass to a team victory with a score of 29 out of four teams.

In the women's race, Conant was the top finisher for UMass in eighth overall, completing the 5K course in 17 minutes and 47 seconds as the Minutewomen took third of six teams at its own Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational. It marked Conant's second straight race in the top-10 overall and as UMass' No. 1 as she finished second overall at the Vermont Invitational the week prior.

UMass will be back in action on Friday, September 24, when the squad will head to Boston for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown at Franklin Park.
