Seven Minutewomen Tabbed NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

Award bestowed to student-athletes with a 3.9 cumulative grade-point average
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Seven members of the University of Massachusetts field hockey team have been named Scholars of Distinction as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) this week. The annual program recognizes student-athletes achieving a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.9 through the previous Fall semester.
Massachusetts' honorees include Izzy Acquaviva, Josephine Ang, Jess Beech, Claire Danahy, Steph Gottwals, Amelie Green and Katie Samaranayake. The group of seven are tied with VCU for the most in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
The announcement continues an ongoing string of academic recognitions by the NFHCA. Earlier this month, 21 Minutewomen were placed on the National Academic Squad. The NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Awards will be released on March 29 and NFHCA Division I National Scholar-Athlete will be announced on June 15.
UMass continues Atlantic 10 Conference play on Saturday with a noon matchup at La Salle.
