Minutewomen Improve to 3-0 after 79-56 Win Over Iona

AMHERST, Mass. – UMass women's basketball improves to 3-0 as five Minutewomen hit double-figures in the victory over Iona on Tuesday night.
Sydney Taylor led the UMass effort, scoring a season high 25 points. The sophomore went 10-12 from the field, nailing 5-of-6 from behind the arc. While Sam Breen tallied her third straight double-double of the season.
The Minutewomen jumped to an early lead in the first, as Taylor contributed 10 of the first 17 points for UMass.
Destiney Philoxy hit a three just two minutes into the second quarter to give UMass their first double-digit lead of the contest.
At the break, the Minuewomen had a 40-17 lead over the Gaels.
The UMass offense continued to attack, as they increased their lead to 28-points at the end of the third quarter. The team continued to hold onto the lead, closing out the fourth quarter with a 79-56 victory at home.
The 3-0 Minutewomen will travel to Holy Cross on Friday, November 19.
