No. 20 Massachusetts Tops Saint Louis, 2-1

Marchio and McTear provide the goals for the Minutewomen, while Green assists both tallies.
MARYLAND HTS., MO. – No. 20 Massachusetts field hockey used a fourth quarter tally by Georgie McTear to top Saint Louis, 2-1 in Atlantic 10 play on Friday afternoon. The victory moves the MInutewomen to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in conference action, while the Billikens fall to 1-12 (0-5 A-10).
Emilie Marchio put UMass on the board first with a shot from the top of the circle, beating Sasha Sander (nine saves) 9:24 into the first quarter for her third goal of the season with Amelie Green picking up the assist.
St. Louis managed to tie the match up at 1-1 in the 22nd minute when Demi Sahuleka chipped a shot over Marlise van Tonder.
After a scoreless third quarter, McTear put Massachusetts ahead for good with her goal off a corner opportunity from the top of the circle with just under six minutes remaining in regulation, once again set up by Green.
UMass finished with a 21-5 shot advantage and 10-1 advantage in penalty corners.
Massachusetts heads back home to host a non-conference matchup against Yale on Sunday at 3 p.m. at The Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex.
