Six different Minutewomen score to defeat the Explorers on Senior Day on Friday in A-10 Action.
Massachusetts was dominant in the first quarter, scoring two goals. The first goal occurred just over one minute into the game on a cross from Georgie McTear to Mus Defauwes. The second tally came from Claire Danahy for her second goal of the season with an assist from Georgie McTear at 5:45 in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Minutewomen once again scored twice. Defauwes scored her second goal of the game off another cross by McTear for her fourth goal of the season at 10:14. Bella Ianni got Massachusetts' fourth goal at 13:31 in the second quarter with an assist from Amelie Green, putting the Minutewomen at a comfortable 4-0 lead going into halftime.
The Minutewomen had a hot third quarter, scoring their final three goals of the game. Josie Rossbach scored her third goal of the season on a deflection off a play up top by McTear at 1:16. Jess Beech scores her second goal on the season off of a pass from Sophie Johnson at 4:32. The final goal by Massachusetts came from Katherine Furry on her first of the season of a ball played to the left side of the goal by Hannah de Gast.
The Explorers put one goal up on a shot by Quinn Medico with an assist by Sofia Pla at 11:05 in the fourth quarter.
On the other side of the field, Marlise van Tonder faced two shots while Brooke Richards made three saves in her 15 minutes of playing time.
Massachusetts had 22 shots on the day (17 on goal), while La Salle had 6 (5 shots on goal). The Minutewomen also led in corners, having 11 on the day to the Explorers' 4.
The Minutewomen next play against #17 Connecticut at Connecticut on Sunday at noon.
