Coming off a 2-0-0 weekend against American International, which saw the Minutemen out score the Yellow Jackets, 9-3 over the two games, UMass will play host to Dartmouth at the Mullins Center this Saturday, breaking from its regular season slate for an exhibition against the Big Green.

Traditionally the Minutemen have hosted Canadian collegiate teams in preseason exhibition matchups, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic and safety concerns with travel, the NCAA announced Division I hockey teams were unable to schedule a foreign team as an exempt exhibition game. Instead the NCAA Committee For Legislative Relief approved a allowing teams to participate in one exhibition contest against any NCAA Division I, II or III institution in 2021-22.

Thus far for UMass through four games Josh Lopina (3g, 1a) and Bobby Trivigno (1g, 3a) pace the Minutemen with four points apiece. Freshman Lucas Mercuri was tabbed the Hockey East Rookie of the Week this past Monday after scoring his first collegiate goal late in the third period for the game-winner in UMass' 4-2 victory over AIC on Oct. 16, while also adding an assist. Graduate student Matt Murray was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Week, as well. Murray was the only Hockey East netminder to go 2-0-0 on the weekend and stopped 38 of the 41 shots he faced against the Yellow Jackets.
