Tennis Drops 5-2 Match To Army West Point

AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts tennis dropped its match to Army West Point, 5-2, at the Bay Road Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon. UMass fell to 3-6 overall with the loss, while the Black Knights advanced to 8-2 on the year.

The Black Knights won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Stephanie Dolehide and Caroline Vincent bested Anna Napadiy and Martina Bocchi at No. 1 by a 6-4 margin and Paola Bou and Sophie McKenzie downed Jasmin Tripathy and Jovana Bogicevic 6-0.

Massachusetts claimed two victories during singles action; however, Army took the match with wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. The Minutewomen triumphed at No. 1 singles when Napadiy fought back and forth with Ana Joyner before overcoming her foe for a 2-6, 7-6, 6-3. Tripathy also won at No. 5 singles over Hannah Boubel 6-2, 6-4.

The Minutewomen continue their season at home at the Bay Road Tennis Club on Sun., Feb. 16 at 1 p.m.
