Tre Mitchell, T.J. Weeks Sign National Letters Of Intent With UMass Basketball

Dynamic tandem propel UMass to No. 1 ranked recruiting class in Atlantic 10.
AMHERST, Mass. – Prep school teammates Tre Mitchell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and T.J. Weeks (Warwick, R.I.) officially became the newest members of the UMass men's basketball program on Wednesday afternoon after they dynamic tandem signed National Letters of Intent. The addition of Mitchell and Weeks gives the Minutemen the No. 1 recruiting class among the Atlantic 10 entering the 2019-20 campaign.
The pair join fellow Woodstock Academy teammate Preston Santos (Warwick, R.I.) and John Buggs, III. (Homer, La.) who signed during the November period.

Connecticut Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2019 … Four-star recruit according for Rivals and ESPN … Ranked 72nd nationally by Rivals and 17th positionally for centers … Ranked 73rd by ESPN … Led Woodstock Academy to a 38-2 record in 2018-19 … Averaged 16.6 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.6 blocks per game in 2018-19 … Helped guide the Centaurs to a 35-5 mark in 2017-18, averaging 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks per game as Woodstock Academy reached the semifinals of the National Prep Tournament … Scored over 1,000 points in two years for the Centaurs … Two-time Power 5 Conference AAA Player of the Year … Named the Hoophall Classic Most Valuable Player twice.

Spent a prep year in 2018-19 at Woodstock Academy in Connecticut … Three-star recruit for 247Sports … Helped guide the Centaurs to a 38-2 record in 2018-19, climbing as high as No. 2 in the national rankings … Named to the National Prep School Invitational All-Tournament team after averaging 16.5 points per game during the tournament … Named to the USA Today All-USA Rhode Island First-Team after averaging 23 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game as a senior at Bishop Hendricken Catholic in 2017-18 … Named to the Providence Journal All-State First-Team as a senior … Guided the Hawks to back-to-back state championships, averaging 17 points and 7 rebounds per game as a junior … Spent first two years of high school at Pilgrim … His father, Tyrone Weeks Sr., scored over 1,000 points for UMass from 1994-98 and played in four consecutive NCAA Tournaments.
