Three Minutemen were honored after the squad's historic week at the Frozen Four.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey swept the final Hockey East weekly awards of the 2018-19 season, the league office announced on Monday. Defenseman Cale Makar was tabbed the Hockey East Player of the Week for the fifth time this season, goaltender Filip Lindberg was selected as the Hockey East Rookie of the Week for a second time and defenseman Marc Del Gaizo garnered Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week recognition. In total, the Minutemen collected 16 weekly awards this season.

The final USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls were announced, as well with UMass sitting at No. 2 in both after opening 2018-19 just outside the rankings, receiving votes in the USCHO.com preseason poll.

Makar was named the 39th Hobey Baker Award Winner last Friday night, becoming the 11th player in Hockey East history to collect college hockey's highest individual honor, in addition to being named a CCM/AHCA All-American. In last Thursday's night's national semifinal, the Calgary, Alberta native logged his 33rd assist of the season and helped the Minutemen earn a spot in the NCAA Championship game for the first time in program history.

Lindberg started both games for UMass at the Frozen Four and stopped a total of 65 shots, including a career-best 37-save performance to help the Minutemen advance to the national championship game with a 4-3 overtime win over Denver. The Espoo Finland native was 1-1 with a 2.66 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage over 135 minutes in net.

Del Gaizo was the hero of UMass' overtime thriller vs. Denver, potting the game-winning goal in the extra frame. The Basking Ridge, New Jersey native also added an assist in the contest for his sixth multi-point game of the year and was named to the 2019 Frozen Four All-Tournament Team.
