Tennis Win Streak Snapped At Yale

Minutewomen fall to Bulldogs for first loss in seven weeks
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - University of Massachusetts tennis had its eight-match win streak snapped by the Yale Bulldogs in New Haven, Connecticut, on Sunday as the Bulldogs scored a 7-0 win over the Minutewomen. The loss - Massachusetts' first in seven weeks - dropped the Minutewomen to 10-3 overall. The win improved Yale to 7-8.
Yale took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Jessie Gong and Caroline Dunleavy won 6-1 over Jodie Lawrence-Taylor and Anna Napadiy at No. 2 while Samantha Martinelli and Raissa Lou sealed it with a 6-3 margin over Janja Kovacevic and Martina Bocchi. Ruth Crawford and Ashley Avery offset the Bulldogs' No. 2 doubles win with a 6-2 triumph over Kathy Wang and Caroline Amos before Yale took the No. 1 match for the team point.
The Minutewomen challenged the Bulldogs in singles, but Yale was able to secure the six singles matches for the win. Lawrence-Taylor battled back and forth with Dunleavy at No. 2 before falling 6-2, 4-6, 6-0. Kovacevic went back and fourth with Martinelli in the first set before Kovacevic fell 7-5, 6-1. Napadiy cleanly won the first set over Yang before Yang responded with back-to-back strong set showings for a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback.
Massachusetts returns to action at Connecticut (4-8) on Wed., March 27 at 2:30 p.m.
