AMHERST, Mass. – The UMass men's basketball team will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night when the Minutemen return home to host defending Ivy League champion Yale at 7 p.m. from the Mullins Center. The teams are meeting for the first time since the 2007-08 season, and eighth time in series history.

The series with Yale
The Minutemen and Bulldogs are meeting for the first time since 2007, and eighth time in series history. UMass leads, 4-3, in a series that dates back to 1932-33.
Last time against Yale, Ricky Harris led UMass with 23 points, while Dante Milligan scored a career-high 17 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Gary Forbes netted 19 points, his fourth game in a row reaching double-digits, and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. Senior Etienne Brower poured in 12 for UMass' fourth player in double-figures, he also had five assists.
Taking on the Ivy
Wednesday is the second of two straight games for the Minutemen against Ivy League opponents, marking the first time since the 2006-07 season that Massachusetts has played a pair of Ivy opponents in a season.
High caliber opponents
Wednesday marks the fourth time in the first 11 games of the year and UMass will take on a team that reached the NCAA tournament in 2019.
The Minutemen have already played Northeastern (W, 80-71), No. 7/6 Virginia (L, 46-58) and St. John's (L, 63-78) so far this year.
After Wednesday, the Minutemen have three games remaining against 2019 NCAA tournament teams.
3J Weeks
Freshman T.J. Weeks is 15th in the NCAA, and third among rookies, in three-point shooting percentage (32-of-66; 48.5%), and his 32 made three-pointers are tied for 16th in the country and third among freshmen.
As a team, UMass is shooting nearly 37% beyond the arc (83-of-236), and its 83 made threes are sixth in the Atlantic 10.
Lending a helping hand
Rookie Sean East II is sixth in the nation among freshmen, and t-70th overall, in total assists with 46 through 10 games, including a season-high eight against Rider on Nov. 20.
Youth movement
It's a new look roster for the Minutemen in 2019-20 with nine newcomers, including seven freshmen. The seven rookies are the most for UMass since the 2007-08 season. All seven freshmen (John Buggs III, Sean East II, C.J. Jackson, Kolton Mitchell, Tre Mitchell, Preston Santos, T.J. Weeks) have made their collegiate debuts, with Tre Mitchell and East II starting all nine games.
The rookies have combined for 58% (400-of-693) of the Minutemen's scoring so far this season.
Weeks and East II started the season with back-to-back Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week accolades, marking the first time since the 2003-04 that UMass collected consecutive conference rookie of the week honors.
Milestone watch
Captain Carl Pierre currently sits at 907 career points, and is closing in on becoming the 52nd player in team history to reach 1000 career points.
