Clark And Conant Lead Women’s Cross Country At A-10 Championships

Both Minutewomen garner all-conference recognition with top-15 finishes as UMass takes fifth.

LEESBURG, Va. – With a pair of runners in the top-15, University of Massachusetts women's cross country claimed fifth of 14 at the Atlantic 10 Championships in at Oatlands Plantation on Saturday morning. The Minutewomen posted a score of 126 points, while La Salle took home the title (68 points) followed by George Washington (92), Dayton (109) and Richmond (115).
 
Junior Caroline Clark and freshman Sarah Conant garnered Atlantic 10 All-Conference recognition by virtue of placing in the top-15 in a field of 131 runners. Clark claimed 12th, clocking in at 18 minutes, 25.5 seconds, while Conant completed the 5K course in 18 minutes, 37.3 seconds to take second for the Minutewomen and 15th overall.
 
Sophomore Alexina Hurley was next across the finish for UMass, landing 23rd at 18 minutes, 55.4 seconds. Junior Colette O'Leary, the Minutewomen's No. 4 scorer, was 34th with a time of 19 minutes, 5.8 seconds. Freshman Lily Robinson rounded out the top-five for UMass in 42nd (19:11.4).
 
The Minutewomen will be back in action in two weeks when the squad travels to Buffalo, New York for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at 11 a.m. at Audubon Golf Course.
