RUN IT IN THE CLUTCH
- Redshirt junior running back Bilal Ally carried the ball on all nine snaps during the final drive of UMass' 37-29 win over the visiting Akron Zips.
- He picked up 78 yards during the drive as he advanced the Minutemen from their 25 yard line to the Akron two yard line and sapped the final five minutes, 24 seconds from the clock.
- His nine carries included runs of 26, 13 and 17 yards while he collected four first downs. He averaged 8.7 yards per carry on the drive.
COLE WORLD
- Junior linebacker Cole McCubrey led UMass or tied for the lead in tackles during three of the opening five games of the season. He posted 10 at Rutgers (8/30), notched a career-high 11 against Southern Illinois (9/7), had eight at Charlotte (9/14) and five versus Akron (9/28).
- McCubrey ranked tied for second on the team in tackles against Coastal Carolina (9/21) and tied for third versus Akron (9/28).
- His previous one-game best with eight stops at FIU on Sept. 15, 2018.
- In addition to his 11 tackles, McCubrey forced a fumble and broke up a pass against the Salukis.
- He tied with position-mate Tyris Lebeau for the team lead in tackles at Charlotte.
RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE
- Redshirt senior kicker Cooper Garcia went 3-for-3 on field goals of 30, 34 and 38 yards, and was 4-of-4 on extra points during the 37-29 win over Akron (9/28). He won Lou Groza Award Star of the Week for his efforts in the win.
