Minutewomen claim five matches on second day of Brown Invitational
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Massachusetts tennis won five matches as part of its second day at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, during which the Minutewomen faced the host-Brown Bears. The Maroon and White took victories at No. 3 doubles as well as No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 8 singles.
Janja Kovacevic filled the No. 1 singles spot and secured a convincing 6-0, 6-3 win over Devon Jack. Jodie Lawrence-Taylor followed at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Katie Ta.
At No. 5, Martina Bocchi battled back and forth with Ryan Peus before Bocchi sealed a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 decision. The final UMass win of the day came from Jovana Bogicevic at No. 8 singles as she claimed a 6-4, 6-3 outing over Wong.
Ruth Crawford and Anna Napadiy secured the team its doubles victory with a 6-3 triumph over Ta and Juliana Simon.
