Junior Brian Gendron ran a season-best 800m time as UMass' top finisher in the unscored meet.
BOSTON – Seven members of the University of Massachusetts men's track and field squad and one relay were in action this afternoon at the unscored David Hemery Valentine Invitational at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center. Minutemen competed in the 800m, mile and the 4x400m.

Junior Brian Gendron led UMass' runners in the 800m, clocking in at a season-best 1 minute, 51.71 seconds, to take 19th. Senior Russell Wells was 52nd with a time of 1:54.75. Junior Zabih Kotecha and sophomore Nicholas Santos finished together in 144th and 145th at 1:58.43 and 1:58.44, respectively.

In the mile run, sophomore Dawson Bathgate landed 131st with a time of 4 minutes, 18.62 seconds. Sophomore Jackson Southard placed 148th in 4:20.28 and classmate Michael McDonald crossed the line in 149th at 4:20.37.

UMass' 4x400m relay squad of sophomore Michael Cuthbert, junior Andrew Hanwell, sophomore Kevin Shannon and sophomore Jacob Gore finished 21st in a field of 55 teams, combining for a time of 3 minutes, 20.80 seconds.
The Minutemen will return to the track next Saturday, Feb. 17, when the squad will open up the Atlantic 10 Championships in Kingston, Rhode Island at 10 a.m.
