AMHERST, Mass. The University of Massachusetts Sports Luncheon Committee announced on Tuesday afternoon that the trio of DeAndrae Brown (men's soccer), Johanna von dem Borne (field hockey) and Dawson Bathgate (men's cross country) were named the UMass Student-Athletes of the Week presented by UMassFive College Credit Union.

All will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon at noon on Wed., Oct. 10 from Berkshire Dining Commons. Guest speakers at Wednesday's luncheon will be men's basketball Head Coach Matt McCall and women's basketball Head Coach Tory Verdi. Free parking will be available in Lot 33 and metered spaces will also be available in the Southwest Horseshoe and along Fearing Street.

Brown put home two goals as the Minutemen picked up a 2-0 shutout win over George Mason on Saturday at home. Brown's first of the afternoon came just three minutes into the contest as he found the back of the net from in close on the right side. The forward followed with his second goal in the 36th minute, calmly putting a penalty kick into the bottom right corner of the net for his team-leading sixth goal of the season to rank him second among league leaders in goals.

A freshman, von dem Borne allowed one goal in 134 minutes over two games, making nine total saves. In UMass' win at Richmond on Friday, von dem Borne posted her first career solo shutout, collecting six stops and helping hold off two Richmond penalty corners as time expired. Despite a loss at VCU on Sunday, she had three saves and allowed just one goal.

Bathgate was the top finisher for the Minutemen, helping the squad to the team title at the New England Championships this past weekend as he placed sixth overall in a field of 171 runners, completing the 8K course in 25:09.21. The Minutemen posted a score of 84 points to lead 26 teams with Northeastern a distant second (116 points) as UMass' five scorers all placed inside the top-25.
