Catherwood, DePaepe, Nisenfeld Selected as UMass Student-Athletes of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. – Three student-athletes earned this week's UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by UMassFive College Credit Union. Collin Catherwood of men's cross country, William DePaepe of football and Leah Nisenfeld of women's soccer were all recognized.
The luncheon takes place on Wednesday, September 23, at noon in the Berkshire Room of the Berkshire Dining Commons. Cost to attend is $17.50 ($15.75 for UMass Alumni).Â
Collin Catherwood | Sr. | Central Valley, N.Y. / Monroe-Woodbury
At the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational on Saturday, senior Collin Catherwood picked up where he left off last season, winning the event in his first race of the season. Catherwood won by nearly 30 seconds, setting a new course record. Catherwood has won at the Maribel Sanchez Southern Invitational in consecutive seasons.
William DePaepe | Jr. | Defensive Line | Bettendorf, Iowa / Indiana
DePaepe led a UMass defense that shut down Stonehill all day en route to a 36-14 win as the Minutemen improved to 3-0 on the season. DePaepe tied for the team lead with four solo tackles, while notching two sacks for 27 yards lost and he added a forced fumble. DePaepe and the UMass defense held Stonehill to just 27 yards rushing on 28 attempts, and a 3-for-16 mark on third down.
Leah Nisenfeld | Jr. | Goalkeeper | Reno, Nev. / Robert McQueen
Leah Nisenfeld played a significant role in Massachusetts' 2-0 week, as the team won 1-0 at Ball State and 2-0 at Ohio. Nisenfeld played 180 minutes between the posts for UMass and registered nine saves and did not allow a goal to be scored for her second and third straight shutouts. At Ball State, the junior goalkeeper made two saves, not allowing a goal. She made seven saves on the seven shots she faced and did not allow a goal at Ohio. With the two clean sheets, Nisenfeld recorded her third and fourth shutouts of the season, and 10th and 11th of her career.
