Roush Sets New Pool Diving Mark, Minutewomen Fall To Fordham 171.5-128.5

Senior Emma Roush broke a four-and-a-half-year-old record in the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 344.33.

AMHERST, Mass. Senior diver Emma Roush broke a four-and-a-half-year-old record in the 3-Meter Dive on Saturday as the University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team fell to Fordham 171.5-128.5 on Senior Day at Rogers Pool. Roush along with Ansley Baker and Kelly Malyszka all won multiple events on the afternoon.
 
Roush's mark of 344.33 set a new Rogers Pool record and broke the mark of 336.23 set by Michaela Butler back in 2013. The senior followed up her record performance with the winning score of 306.52 in the 1-Meter Dive to round out her final home meet. Maja Boric finished second in the 3-Meter Dive while Katie Polk took third before going on to best Boric in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 281.63 to finish second while Boric finished third.
 
Malyszka was one of three Minutewomen to win multiple events on the day as the freshman opened up her afternoon by winning the 1,000 Free with a time of 10:32.44 before going on to post the top time of 2:10.51 in the 200 IM.
 
Baker won three events for UMass, beginning with a win in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.75 while Chelsea Meiring came in third. Baker followed up with wins in both the 100 and 200 Free as the junior set the top time of 24.00 in the 50 Free as Mariam Labib rounded out the top-three finishers in third and Hayley Masi finished in fifth. Baker wrapped up her individual day with her third and final win, this in the 100 Free with a time of 52.02.
 
Sami Schieffelin and Maddie Biron each added a runner-up finish for the Minutewomen as Schieffelin came in second in the 200 Breast while Biron finished second in the 100 Back.
 
The Minutewomen will be off for a week before they begin competition at the A-10 Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 14 in Geneva, Ohio.
