Tennis Cruises Past Fordham to Reach A-10 Championship Match

ORLANDO, Fla. - For the seventh time in program history, the UMass tennis team earned a berth to the Atlantic 10 Championship match after a 4-0 win over Fordham on Saturday morning in the semifinal round. The Minutewomen will take on VCU on Sunday morning (10 a.m.) at the USTA National Campus with live coverage on ESPN3.

The championship match will see second-seeded UMass and top-seeded VCU meet for the first time in the tournament since the Rams defeated the Minutewomen for the 2015 title. UMass last won the Atlantic 10 Championship title in 2001. The Minutewomen will play in the finals match for the third time in the last six years. The winner will receive the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

In Saturday's action, Anna Woosley's 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles proved the match winner improving her to 2-0 in the tournament while also standing as the senior's 63rd career victory.

Ruth Crawford earned a straight set win at No. 2 singles, while Ana Yrazusta picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory in No. 3 play.

The Minutewomen (11-7) opened the day by earning the doubles point over the Rams. Crawford and Woosley won 6-0 in the No. 1 match followed by a 6-2 win for Yrazusta and Janja Kovacevic at No. 2 doubles.

VCU (16-8) earned a 4-1 win on Saturday over Saint Louis. The Rams have won the last four league titles since joining the Atlantic 10.
