Baker, Cowan Named Co-Student-Athletes of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Athletics has selected Ansley Baker and Emilie Cowan as its Co-Student-Athletes of the Week for Feb. 13-19.
 
Ansley Baker, a sophomore from Sudbury, Mass., had four banner days at the Atlantic 10 Championships where she set three school records and posted an NCAA B standard in the 100 breaststroke. She helped the Minutewomen place third overall. Individually, Baker finished third overall in both the 50 free (23.27) and the 100 free (50.30) in school-record times. Her highest finish of the meet was second in the 100 breast with her NCAA B standard of 1:01.84. She also swam as a part of the school-record setting 200 medley relay which placed fourth (1:42.62) and on the third-place 400 medley relay (3:45.49).
 
Cowan, a sophomore from Maplewood, New Jersey, took home two of UMass' seven medals at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, defending her 2016 title in 500 meters (1:11.70) and collecting silver in the 200 meters (24.78). She improved upon her own 500- and 200-meter school records and broke her own A-10 record at 500 meters. She also scored points as a part of UMass' 4x400-meter relay that finished sixth (3:55.04).
