Tennis Battles Boston College In Bulldog Invitational Day One

Kavacevic, Napadiy win in singles competition
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - University of Massachusetts tennis took on Boston College during the opening day of the Bulldog Invitational at Yale University, but were unable to overcome the Eagles. Massachusetts claimed wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles and No. 3 and No. 4 doubles.
Boston College took the battles at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles by identical 6-3 scores. Jackie Urbinati and Kylie Wilcox downed Ruth Crawford and Janja Kovacevic while Dasha Possokhova and Elene Tsokilauri overcame Ana Yrazusta and Laura Moreno.
Massachusetts responded in the No. 3 and No. 4 doubles matches with a pair of victories. Anna Napadiy and Ashley Avery defeated Natasha Irani and Maria Ross 6-2 while Martina Bocchi and Jovana Bogicevic combined for a 6-4 win over Loren Haukova and Reagan Posorske.
The Eagles took six of eight singles matches, including at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8. The Minutewomen picked up a pair of singles victories from Kovacevic and Napadiy. Kovacevic won in her head-to-head meeting with Urbinati 6-1, 6-1 while Napadiy bested Ross 6-4, 6-4.
The Maroon and White continue participation in the 2017 Bulldog Invitational on Sat., Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. against Brown and wrap up competition against Harvard at Noon on Sun., Oct. 8.
