Tennis Claims Four Matches On Bulldog Invitational Day Two

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - University of Massachusetts tennis secured four wins during the second day of action at the Bulldog Invitational, including singles and doubles victories by senior Ana Yrazusta. The Minutewomen wrap up the Bulldog Invitational, hosted at Yale University, against Harvard on Sun., Oct. 7 at Noon.

Yrazusta teamed with Laura Moreno at No. 2 doubles and outperformed Brown's Stearns and Cosme 6-4. Yrazusta also won at No. 1 singles over Stearns 6-2, 6-4 for the daily sweep.

The Bears managed wins in three additional doubles matches. Ruth Crawford and Janja Kovacevic were stopped to Alyza Benotto and Juliana Simon 6-3 during the No. 1 match before Brown totaled a pair of 7-5 victories. Katie Ta and Nandu Mandalap felled Anna Napadiy and Ashley Avery while Peri Sheinin and Semi Oloko outplayed Martina Bocchi and Jovana Bogicevic by identical scores.

Massachusetts also took home wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Crawford won 6-4, 6-4 over Benotto in No. 2 singles action while Kovacevic triumphed 6-1, 6-1 against Simon.

Brown won at No. 4 singles with Ta over Napadiy 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. Bocchi, Avery and Bogicevic also dropped their singles matches to their respective Brown opponents. Due to the Bears only fielded seven singles matches, Moreno squared off with Boston College's Maria Ross, with Ross the victor 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.
