Academic Success
May 30, 2023 | Academic Success
MISSION STATEMENT
The Academic Success Unit provides the student-athletes with the support to pursue excellence in the classroom, community, and competition. Using a growth mindset philosophy, the Office of Academic Success is dedicated to providing services and resources that will empower, motivate, and propel student-athletes toward graduation. We promote an uncompromised strength of character in conjunction with the highest level of administrative and academic integrity.
Each student-athlete is assigned an academic services counselor in addition to an on-campus faculty advisor or a professional advisor in their particular school/college. Student-athletes receive supplemental counseling on both general education and major requirements. Counselors also help schedule courses and inform student-athletes of NCAA eligibility requirements. Students may make an appointment or drop by during regular business hours.
ACADEMIC MONITORING
The Office of Academic Services also takes on the role of tracking academic progress. Staff members are in contact with instructors through progress reports, phone calls, and emails throughout the semester. This information is used to identify problem areas and make recommendations for improvement.
CONSULTATION
Academic Services staff members act as liaisons to the rest of the University community and are trained to provide the appropriate referrals to other campus resources and departments.
