Minutewomen Conclude Season at NCAA Preliminary Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - University of Massachusetts women's track and field wrapped up its 2015-16 season onThursday with two Minutewomen in action at the NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Championships at the University of North Florida. Freshman Emilie Cowan raced in the 400m first round and redshirt junior Kelsey Crawford took part in the javelin competition.
Cowan ran under 54 seconds in the 400m for the second time in her career and is the only Minutewoman in program history to do so. The Maplewood, N.J., native crossed the finish line in 53.96 seconds, good for 36th in the field of 48 as the time was just shy of breaking her own school record of 53.92.
Crawford threw 144 feet in javelin to place 25th out of 48 competitors. The Houston, Texas, native achieved the mark on her second of three throws, posting a distance of 142 feet, 8 inches on her first attempt and closing the event with a 137-foot, 3-inch toss.
