Tennis Wins Sixth Straight, 4-1, at Quinnipiac

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. - A trio of quick wins in singles play keyed the UMass tennis team to its sixth straight victory on Friday afternoon, 4-1, at Quinnipiac. The match was played in a clinch-style format at the North Haven Health and Racquet Club after having been rescheduled a day later due to Thursday's weather conditions.
The Minutewomen (11-6) will have a quick turnaround as they host Bryant on Saturday afternoon at the Bay Road Tennis Center.
UMass won the opening doubles point on Friday thanks to wins from Arielle Griffin and Laura Moreno at No. 2 play and Brittany Collens and Ruth Crawford at No. 3 play.
In singles, the Bobcats picked up a point when Ana Yrazusta was forced to retire in her second set at No. 2 singles.
Moreno and Collens picked up quick straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, while Crawford won at No. 1 singles (6-2, 7-5) to secure the team match victory.
Carol Benito led her match at No. 4 singles after winning the first set and being tied in the second when the competition was concluded.
