Deveau Second After Day One of Holy Cross Heptathlon

WORCESTER, Mass. - Three members of the University of Massachusetts women's track and field squad opened up competition at the Holy Cross Heptathlon on Wednesday. Day one's action saw sophomore Bridget Deveau sitting in second place out of 10 competitors through four events.
Deveau amassed 2,736 points, winning shot put with a distance of 36 feet, 1.25 inches for 595 points, finishing second in 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.28 seconds (805 points) and third in high jump at 5 feet, 1.25 inches (689 points).
Sophomore Julia Witt is currently fifth with 2,456 points, including 795 from a 5-foot, 5 inch leap in high jump that landed her in second. In sixth is freshman Charlotte Robison with 2,324 points. She scored 684 points in the 100 meter hurdles, with a time of 16.26 seconds. She also claimed a third-place finish of 27.58 seconds in 200 meter hurdles helped to boost her score with 664 points.
Day two picks up tomorrow at Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. Tomorrow's events include long jump, javelin, and the 800 meter run to determine the final standing.
