Tennis Bounces Back with 5-2 Win Over Albany

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - A strong showing in doubles and winning four of six singles matches led the UMass tennis team to a 5-2 win at Albany on Saturday afternoon at the SPORTIME Schenectady Indoor Complex.
The win improves the Minutewomen to 6-6 on the season before UMass heads to Charleston, S.C., next week for three matches during spring break.
Against the Great Danes, UMass took an early 1-0 lead after Ana Yrazusta and Carol Benito won at No. 1 singles, 6-0. Laura Moreno and Arielle Griffin then sealed the point with a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Yrazusta, Anna Woosley, and Benito all won in straight sets to seal the team match victory. Ruth Crawford added the fifth and final point at No. 1 singles with a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory.
The Minutewomen will next be in action on Tuesday, March 15 at the College of Charleston. UMass will then play Towson on March 17 and Charleston Southern on March 18.
