Tennis Falls 6-1 At No. 41 Dartmouth Sunday

HANOVER, N.H. - No. 41 Dartmouth won the opening doubles point and five of six singles en route to a 6-1 win over the UMass tennis team on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Ana Yrazusta picked up the lone win for the Minutewomen with a straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Dartmouth earned a pair of 6-0 wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles before sweeping the opening session with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 1 singles, Ruth Crawford won the opening set, 6-1, before falling in the second set, 6-3, to force a tie-breaker. The third set was back-and-forth with Dartmouth taking a 10-6 win to take the match.
The Big Green earned straight set wins at No. 3 through No. 5 singles.
Carol Benito played at the No. 6 position forcing a tie-breaker. She lost the opening set, 6-2, before winning the second set, 6- 3. Her tie-breaker set was also a rally battle as she ultimately fell 10-6.
The Minutewomen will be off until March 5 when UMass heads to Albany for a 3 p.m. match.
