Women's Cross Country Announces 2015 Schedule

AMHERST, Mass. - The 2015 UMass women's cross country schedule, which features seven meets, including the annual Minuteman Invitational, was announced on Wednesday. Opening the 2015 campaign on Sept. 12, the Minutewomen will host Amherst, Boston College, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont at the Minuteman Invitational.
UMass will then have 13 days to prepare for its next meet on the docket, the Coast-To-Coast Battle in Beantown at Franklin Park on Friday, Sept. 25. The Minutewomen, who ran in the Battle in Beantown for the first time in 2014, are slated to face top competition from around the country with Boston College, Connecticut, Cornell, Duke, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Hartford, Johns Hopkins, Michigan, New Hampshire, Providence, Rhode Island, Syracuse and William & Mary all scheduled to run at the meet.
On Oct 2, UMass will make its annual trip to the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., before returning to Franklin Park on Oct. 10 for the New England Championship.
Ahead of the Atlantic 10 Championship, the Minutewomen will run a shorter course on Oct. 23, the 3K CCSU Mini-Meet in Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn.
Then on Oct. 31, UMass will travel to Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va., for the 2015 A-10 Championship.
The Minutewomen wrap up the 2015 campaign with their third trip to Franklin Park of the season for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Nov. 13.
Coach Julie LaFreniere's brings a young squad into her 29th season at the helm this fall with just two seniors and five juniors on the roster. Senior Carly Zinner, who was the Minutewomen's No. 2 finisher at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship and NCAA Regional meets, is among the team's top returnees for 2015.
