Minutewomen Compete At New England Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Minutewomen closed out day one of the New England Championships with several top-eight finishes Saturday at MIT in Cambridge, Mass. The women's track and field squad went head to head against some of the toughest competitors the region has to offer. Among notable finishers was Emma Robinson's Silver-winning performance in javelin and Courtney Kromko's Bronze-earning leap in long jump.
Minutewomen scored two in javelin. Robinson threw a fantastic 139 feet, 9 inches. The PR throw earned her a Silver medal and improved her standing in the UMass record books to third all-time. Bridget Deveau finished 8th at 129 feet, 5 inches.
In long jump, Kromko earned third place with her 18 foot, 9 inch leap. Ashley Palmer finished 10th at 17 feet, 10.25-inches.
In the 5,000 meter run, Molly McMahon ran 18 minutes, 51.51-seconds, good for 29th place. Gracie Bailly competed in the 10,000 meter run, finishing 19th at 40 minutes, 5.37-seconds.
Several Minutewomen also competed in the preliminary rounds of running events. In the 100 meter hurdles prelims Brittany Green ran 14.75-seconds, good for 10th but just short of finals. Meghan Patrolia was 18th at 14.96-seconds, also short of finals. Deveau ran in the prelims of 400 meter hurdles and finished 10th at 1 minute, 3.79-seconds, just short of finals.
Competition picks up tomorrow at MIT in Cambridge, Mass. Start time is slated for 12:00 noon.
