The Shot Of A Lifetime - Frank Vatrano
April 09, 2015 | Hockey
As part of his internship with the UMass Media Relations department, former Minuteman Frank Vatrano is blogging and sharing his experiences and first impressions of professional hockey as a member of the Boston Bruins organization.
Over the past weekend the team traveled to St. John's, Newfoundland for a pair of games vs. The St. John's Ice Caps. The team had a very good weekend picking up a weekend sweep and we now only need five more points to secure a playoff spot. Hopefully we can take care of business this weekend as we have three games starting on Friday and Saturday vs. Worcester and Sunday against Hartford.
I did not make the trip this past weekend to St. John's. While the team was away, I still skated back here in Providence and did a bunch of conditioning workouts. The biggest part about pro hockey is being in great physical shape because that is what the game is all about today. Particularly in the Bruins organization, they stress on being in great shape we do bike rides at least three times a week because, when you play a 76-game schedule, it's hard to find time to workout.
Here in Providence they do a great job at balancing things out to make sure you stay in good shape during the season. So far the experience has been great and I am enjoying my new lifestyle. I look forward to sharing many more experiences next week.
Thanks for reading and Go Bruins!
